I often hear the phrase that " Trump is a threat to Democracy."
It seems that this form of government is not working too well for the Democrats. These cheerleaders for Democracy do not realize that they are cheering for their own demise. They seem to regurgitate what they hear, with no knowledge of the outcome. It is like they are trapped in this mindset.
Our founding fathers predicted democracy's demise, not from runaway debt but from an erosion of character traits and virtues that gave rise to liberty in the first place. Benjamin Franklin stated, "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom."
The word "Democracy" does not appear in the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution, or any of the 50 states' constitutions. It does not appear in the Declaration of Independence or the Pledge of Allegiance, but the word "Republic" does.
The fact is that we have a Republic in which the U.S. Constitution guaranteed all 50 states a republican form of government.
Some Democrats say they have a Representative Democracy, but I think that adding that adjective is like putting lipstick on a pig. At the end of the day, it's still a pig, and a Representative Democracy is still a Democracy.
I hope that Trump is more than just a threat to Democracy. I hope he makes it totally irrelevant." Democracy" was the term Aristotle employed to describe the perverted form of rule by the many, "mob rule," and Plato called it the most vile form of government.
